About GaP
GaP aims to support European Union countries in reaching the 30% protected area and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECM) coverage target by 2030 while maximising the ability to conserve biodiversity and prevent extinctions. This will be achieved by building capacity for Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) through workshops, establishing KBA National Coordination Groups, and scoping KBAs using multiple taxonomic groups (vertebrates, invertebrates and plants). GaP will create maps and a report to help countries update their KBAs to represent the most important places for biodiversity and expand their protected area and OECMs network.
