Land Degradation-Based Approach for Assessing the Performance of the Natura 2000 Network in Mainland Spain

A new study led by Mario Mingarro and authored by Gabriel del Barrio was published in Land, which found a relationship between the isolation of protected areas and their conservation status. This study suggests that the degree of isolation of a KBA could be related to its vulnerability to land degradation, which should be considered in the assessment.
